Welcome to the Yellow Room
3-5 year-old Preschool for All/Project Child Classroom
Yellow Classroom Happenings
Our project on animals is going wonderfully. We learned about desert and water animals this month. We practiced writing letters in sand. Feeling the different textures when writing our letters can help us remember them. We practiced understanding positional words like front, behind, under, and above. We made some really neat cacti out of model magic. We made a class book about what we would be if we lived in the ocean. We made some fun jellyfish out of coffee filters. We learned about rainbows around St. Patrick’s Day. We made a rainbow fruit pizza. We also used old CD’s and flashlights to make a rainbow. We are still looking forward to learning about farm and zoo animals before the end of the year.
We will also be talking about Spring and the changes that occur with this season. We will go on a walk to look for signs of Spring. Each class will be receiving caterpillars this month. We look forward to watching the process of them turning into a butterfly.
We will celebrate the Week of the Young Child April 16-20.
We will have a field trip at the end of April/beginning of May. We will post more information when it is planned.
Thank you to all of the parents who attended our parent night on March 27th. We really enjoyed watching you spend some time with your child. We hope you enjoyed getting a glimpse into some of the things they do throughout their day.
Ms Kristi earned her B.A. in Early Childhood Education from SIUE. She has taught at numerous preschools and 1st grade. She and her husband, Blake, have two children, Blake Jr, and Peyton. Peyton is a Discovery School graduate. She substitute taught at Discovery starting in 2011 and is thrilled to teach here. She loves to watch children explore on their own and see what they discover. Hands-on learning is the key to a happy preschooler!
