Yellow Classroom Happenings
We are having fun with our animal project. We recently have started to explore artic animals. The children have been coming up with many questions about these animals. Do penguins fly? What do polar bears eat? We are going to look up the answers to these questions with the children on the computer and in books. We are learning a poem and songs about these winter animals. We are going to put ice in our sensory table to pretend to ice fish. We will also talk about hibernation and animals that hibernate in the winter.
We have been talking about winter too. We made a snowman village and made our snowmen out of model magic. There were many different sizes. We also baked a gingerbread man. He got out of the oven, and we had to search the school for him. We found him in Ms. Mycah’s office. We read many different versions of the Gingerbread Man. The children voted on their favorite gingerbread book. Gingerbread Girl won! We also used our counting skills to see what part of the gingerbread man we ate first. The most children ate the head first!
Ms Kristi earned her B.A. in Early Childhood Education from SIUE. She has taught at numerous preschools and 1st grade. She and her husband, Blake, have two children, Blake Jr, and Peyton. Peyton is a Discovery School graduate. She substitute taught at Discovery starting in 2011 and is thrilled to teach here. She loves to watch children explore on their own and see what they discover. Hands-on learning is the key to a happy preschooler!
