September promises to be a great month at Discovery.  There should be less heat and a touch of fall beginning.  With that comes our field trips to Braeutigam’s Orchard.  The details for each class our on their individual class pages of the website.  The two year olds are not going on the field trip, but they will be celebrating apples in their classroom with an Apple Festival on Friday, September 16th.

Books orders will be beginning and forms will be sent home soon.  Book orders are not mandatory; however, the children really enjoy the Scholastic Books.  They are very reasonable and also there are many choices for the different ages of children.

Vision Screenings will be done on September 14th and 15th.  Please remember that these are screenings and not complete eye tests.  The Lions Club does the screenings, free of charge, and will use a SPOT camera.  By taking a picture of your child’s eyes, they are screened for five different issues that children may have.  If you child is referred, this indicates that your child should have a thorough eye test by a doctor.  If you here nothing from us, that means your child passed the screenings.  Thank you to the Lions Club!!!

If you use Amazon Prime, you have an opportunity to donate a portion of your purchases to Discovery.  This can be done by accessing “Amazon Smiles” when you sign into your Amazon Prime account and name Discovery School as your charitable organization.  Thanks for doing this for us.  Every bit helps!

Our annual Quarter Auction will take place on Friday, November 18th.  We will be looking for help from parents.  It will be discussed at the September 22nd parent meeting.  The BEST thing you can do to help us is get a group of friends to come and join the fun on the 18th of November!

We still have some openings at the school.  If you know of families who could use a high-quality preschool, please refer them to us.  You are the best marketing tool we have!
