Yellow Classroom Happenings

December

In November, we had our Special Person “Thank You” breakfast.  We would like to thank everyone who was able to attend the breakfast.  The students worked hard to make the fruit kabobs, cinnamon roll twists, and the biscuit bears.  We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!  We also started sending home “Homework Bags” with students.  We have enjoyed reviewing the bags as they were returned.  We will continue to send home bags with students so everyone will have an opportunity to share their learning with you at home.

During the month of December, we will begin an in-depth study about different types of balls.  Students will be bringing in various balls to examine and share with others.  We will investigate how people, use balls, what they are made of, what is inside of them, and how high they can bounce.

Special Readers

We are still looking for more volunteers to read a favorite book to our class during our end of the day group time (2:15-2:30 pm).  The kids get so excited when their parents come to the classroom, and what better way to participate in your child’s day and learning than by sharing a favorite book!  The kids LOVE seeing you and listening to you read! Please talk to Ms. Amy to schedule a day that works for you.

*Please make sure to call the office to let us know if your child willbe absent from school.

*Please check the top of your child’s cubby every night and empty it out.  All notes will be put in the top cubby.

*Remember we strive to be a peanut-free zone for the safety of our children with allergies.  Please keep this in mind when choosing a birthday snack.

*If Discovery is closed due to weather conditions, it will be announce on Channels 2 and 5 and on Facebook.  The classroom teacher will also send an email with information.

*For the safety of the children, Discovery requests that they wear tennis shoes every day.

*If your child has soiled clothing, a note will be taped to your child’s cubby. Our purple soiled clothes basket is on the top right of the cubbies.

*As the temperature gets cooler, be sure to send jackets and coats as necessary for outside time, and switch out the extra clothes in your child’s backpack.  We go outside every day, weather permitting, as long as the temperature is above 25 degrees with the wind chill.  Please label all clothing with your child’s name.
