Yellow Classroom Happenings

April

Classroom Happenings:

In March, we wrapped up our in-depth boat study.  We worked together to complete our large class boat and took it outside to play with on the patio.  Mrs. Denise even brought in her grandson’s lock and dam system for us to play with!  We celebrated a week of Dr. Seuss by wearing themed clothes and eating special treats.  One of our most favorite treats was the colored goldfish.  We began to see signs of spring and planted seeds to be put in our outside garden next month.  We completed a Spring scavenger hunt on our walk to the O’Fallon park and played on the large playground too.  We also enjoyed our field trip to the HealthWorks! Kids’ Museum and wrote about our experiences to make a class book.

During the month of April, we will be focusing on growing and tending our garden, celebrating Week of the Young Child, and learning about and watching our classroom caterpillars turn into beautiful butterflies.

End of the Year Celebration

This year, we will be having our end of the year celebration at Discovery School on Wednesday, May 15th at 6:30 pm.  Yellow Room children will be singing songs.  We will also have a special treat and give out portfolios that night.

*We go outside every day, weather permitting. Please make sure your child is dressed for the day’s weather.  Please label all clothing and other items with your child’s name.

*Please check the top of your child’s cubby every night and empty it out.  All notes will be put in the top cubby.

*Remember we strive to be a peanut-free zone for the safety of our children with allergies.  Please keep this in mind when choosing a birthday snack.

*For the safety of the children, Discovery requests that they wear tennis shoes every day.

*If your child has soiled clothing, a note will be taped to your child’s cubby. Our purple soiled clothes basket is on the top right of the cubbies.
